Challenges faced by women in the informal sector during the covid-19 lockdown in Chitungwiza urban

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to understand and outline the challenges being faced by women in the Informal Sector during the Covid19 lockdown period.T he study employed the qualitative method of collecting data such as key informant interviews using key informant interviews guide. The study also used documentary search to complete the research findings in order to make the research a success.The findings confirmed that women are facing challenges in the Informal Sector which is affecting their standard of living. However the study concluded that women are facing challenges during the Covid-19 lockdown period. The research recommends that the Municipality, Ministry of Women Affairs and the NGO’s of Women Empowerment to assist women on the challenges that they are facing in the Informal Sector
