Abstract
This research explores financial innovation in investor relations through a case study of InvestorHub, a fintech platform designed to enhance transparency and measurable engagement. This research seeks to test the extent to which InvestorHub facilitates the building of cheap, effective investor relationships and the democratization of capital raising, and enhances retail investor trust in both developed markets and Zimbabwe. Built on innovation diffusion and stakeholder theory the study utilizes a quantitative research approach; a mixture of qualitative case studies and quantitative regression modelling of investor behaviour and fintech adoption. The study tests hypotheses which indicate that InvestorHub facilitates lower intermediary reliance, moving investor engagement from qualitative storytelling to quantitative measurement, and fostering trust by introducing measurement of actual investor engagement metrics. The potential use of the platform in Zimbabwe includes spurring diaspora investment, enhancing transparency and providing affordable, scalable tools to firms in difficult environments. InvestorHub is identified as a case study on bridging technology and finance within a fintech notion of providing access and accountability, concluding recommendations on growing the use of data-driven IR strategies, adequate regulation for digital engagement and on the capacity building of firms in emerging markets. Suggestions for further research involve comparative studies across African economies and longitudinal analysis of fintech’s impact on retail investor decision-making.
