Single motherhood is a significant social and economic challenge in Ruwa community, with many single mothers facing poverty, limited access to education and healthcare, and social exclusion. Women's self-help groups have been identified as a potential strategy for improving the livelihoods of single mothers, by providing them with access to financial services, social support, and economic empowerment. This study used qualitative data collection and analysis methods. The study found that women's self-help groups have had a positive impact on the livelihoods of single mothers in Ruwa community, improving their access to financial services, increasing their income and economic empowerment, and enhancing their social well being and self-esteem. The study recommends that women's self-help groups be supported and scaled up in Ruwa community, as a strategy for improving the livelihoods of single mothers and promoting women's empowerment. The study also highlights the need for policymakers and development practitioners to recognize the importance of women's self-help groups in promoting women's economic empowerment and improving their livelihoods.
